Etymology: Luciocyprinus: Latin, lucius, Greek, lykos = wolf ; pike, by its predatory habits + Kypris, other name for Aphrodite, proceeding from Cyprus (Kypris), Greek, kyprinos = carp (Ref. 45335).

Eyes large and convex, located higher; interorbital space flat; snout projected; upper lip thick; length behind head far longer than length of snout (Ref. 45536).
