Found in rather slow running water, in a section bordered with dense vegetation and in a small shallow stony brook with rather swift water; seems to be more common in fast flowing water between the stones; detritus eater; female mouthbrooder (Ref. 28906).

Probably a female mouthbrooder as several preserved specimens with eggs or fry in the mouth appeared to be females.
