Diagnosis: parietal fontanella always present, even in adults; precaudal spot ovoid, anteriorly pointed and not extending unto caudal-fin rays; 5.5 scales between lateral line and dorsal fin; 26-30 lateral line scales; 19-21 anal fin branched rays; 6/8 premaxillary teeth; 12-15 gill rakers on lower limb of first gill arch (Ref. 2880, 81279).
