Distribution: Northeast Atlantic: North Cape, Skagerrak to Bay of Biscay. Western Mediterranean (Ref.123983).
Adult biology: Over muddy bottoms. Spawns in spring. Important prey for several commercial fish.
Diagnosis: One dorso-ventral cluster in the posterior part of the tail. At 7.5 mm length the pelvics begin to develop. . See also LARVAE table.
Climate Zone: temperate; 72°N - 43°N
