Comments | Protandric hermaphrodite species (male during its first sexual maturity). Becomes female between 2 and 7 years of age. Spawns from January to June, depending on latitude.Egg size 1.19 larval length at hatching 3.7 mm. In the year 2000 the reproduction cycle was closed in a factory of the group Isidro de la Cal Calicia). The first spawning from parents born in captivity (at 4 years of age) was obtained and the larval phase was completed. Fry obtained, after pre-fattening in tanks, have been transported to cages for ongrowing. | |||||||
