| Remark: | These fish can be found in large numbers following heavy spring rains. The juveniles enter the shallow edges of the river and forage for food, where they are found among leaf litter. Adults are rarely seen or captured with a dip net. This visit yielded 7 young N. exilis, aka "Slender Madtoms," ranging from 1-2.5 inches. Found in the same areas as juvenile centrarchids, G. affins, juvenile Fundulus killifish, Cottus sculpins, trout (from a nearby hatchery), juvenile N. asper, and crayfish. Exact day is an estimate, but time of day is accurate. | ||||
