Family:  Congridae (Conger and garden eels), subfamily: Congrinae
Max. size:  150 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 26 - 183 m
Distribution:  Western Atlantic: Gulf of Mexico to mouth of the Amazon River.
Diagnosis:  Vertebrae: 159-172. Brown to yellowish brown, with vertical fins black edged posteriorly and stomach and intestine pale.
Biology:  Inhabits coastal waters (Ref. 26340). Found on soft bottoms.
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 15 August 2011 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
