Max. size:  10.46 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  pelagic-neritic; marine; depth range 121 - 129 m
Distribution:  Eastern Indian Ocean: Myanmar.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 12-12; Dorsal soft rays (total): 13-13; Anal spines: 4-4; Anal soft rays: 11-11. This species is distinguished by the following characters: 3½ scales above lateral line to middle of spinous portion of dorsal fin; anterior nasal bone no spine extending beyond median upper lip; corner of preoperculum without spine; lateral-line scales 28; height of suborbital bone below center of eye about 1/3 of eye diameter; the last dorsal-fin spine is shorter than penultimate spine; pectoral-fin rays 16; lower gill rakers 13 including rudiments; opercular scale rows 5; dorsal profile of head sloping, distance from lower edge of maxilla to top of eye 2.2 in HL; length of caudal peduncle 8.3% SL; colour when fresh mostly carmine red with white lines running along centers of scales along length of body (Ref. 114923).
