Family:  Syngnathidae (Pipefishes and seahorses), subfamily: Nerophinae
Max. size:  14.5 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; freshwater
Distribution:  Asia: Indonesia, the Philippines and Timor-Leste.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 36-39. This species is distinguished by the following characters: tail rings 28-30), dorsal-fin rays 36-39; subdorsal tail rings 7-8 (Ref. 132364).
Biology:  Majority of collections are from freshwater streams and rivers. Probably reaches 14.5 cm SL. Ovoviviparous (Ref. 205). The male carries the eggs in a brood pouch which is found under the tail (Ref. 205).
