| Biology: | Coastal species which occurs over sand more than rock. Juveniles inhabit shallow water mostly over sand in mud flats; adults inhabit deeper water and are especially abundant near the rocky slopes. Is omnivorous, but mainly vegetarian (feeds on phytoplankton, algae, and plants) (Ref. 6770). | |||
