Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  North America: White River, Pahranagat Valley in Nevada, USA.
Diagnosis:  Anal soft rays: 9-9. Lepidomeda altivelis can be distinguished by the following characters: scales on lateral line 84-95; anal fin with 9 rays; large, pointed dorsal fin; pharyngeal teeth 2,5-4,2; pointed snout; large, oblique mouth, front tip of lower jaw above middle of eye; and compressed head (Ref. 86798).
Biology:  Occurs in spring outflows (Ref. 86798).
IUCN Red List Status: Extinct (EX); Date assessed: 28 February 2012 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
