Diagnosis: | Description: habitus of typical predator; gape inclination of mouth of about 45°; sharp unicuspid teeth, also in small specimens (8.5cm SL) (Ref. 55954). Coloration: melanin pattern with horizontal bands; well-marked mid-lateral band on posterior part of body, absent or represented by a series of spots in the anterior part, not reaching the head; dorso-lateral band also broken in a series of spots (Ref. 55954). | |||
Biology: | Occurs in small groups over shallow sandy substrates (Ref. 267). Hunts in pairs or in large groups (Ref. 3817). | |||
