| Biology: | Smaller specimens occur in sheltered, shallow waters with a mud bottom while larger specimens occur over a rocky bottom (Ref. 4983). Ingested material in the stomach consisted of fragments of fin rays, cycloid scales similar to those covering part of the caudal fin of cichlids; while those in the intestines consisted of numerous small scales and empty diatom frustules (Ref. 558). | |||
