Family:  Stomiidae (Barbeled dragonfishes), subfamily: Melanostomiinae
Max. size:  14.8 cm SL (male/unsexed); 10.2 cm SL (female)
Environment:  pelagic-oceanic; marine; depth range 0 - 260 m
Distribution:  Eastern Central Pacific: known only from near the Hawaiian Islands. Also in New Caledonia (Ref. 86942).
Diagnosis:  The barbel has three branches arising from the main stem (Ref. 34246).
Biology:  Epi- and mesopelagic at 65-195 m (Ref. 58302).
IUCN Red List Status: Data deficient (DD); Date assessed: 04 February 2009 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
