Family:  Opisthoproctidae (Barreleyes or spookfishes)
Max. size:  17.3 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  bathypelagic; marine; depth range 675 - 900 m
Distribution:  Atlantic Ocean: in sub-Antarctic waters. Also known from the Indian Ocean and Southeast Pacific.
Diagnosis:  This species has shape of eye that is tubular, no adipose fin; has the origin of anal fin before end of the dorsal fin base; and, no longitudinal brownish band below eyes (Ref. 58272).
