Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 0 - 48 m
Distribution:  Eastern Indian Ocean: Western Australia.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 96-112; Anal soft rays: 88-101; Vertebrae: 40-44. This species is distinguished by the following characters: snout bluntly rounded; head length 19-28% of SL, snout length 4-8% of SL; eyes are not contiguous; nostrils 2; rostral hook not extending to below the eye; lateral lines on eyed side three, on blind side one; mid-lateral line scales 73-88; scales between dorsal and mid-lateral lines 11-14; scales on both eyed and blind sides ctenoid; D 96-112; A 88-101; caudal-fin rays 10; vertebrae 8 + 40-44; two ocelli on tail (Ref. 123824).
Biology:  Occurs in shallow water from tidal pools; rockpool with rock, algae and rubble (Ref. 123824).
