Distribution:  Asia: Turkey.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 11-11. Cobitis battalgili is distinguished from its similar congener C. damlae by its mouth structure, head depth 69.7% SL ( vs. 63.4% SL) and body depth 16.7% SL (vs. 10.8% SL), pectoral fin with 7-8 branched rays (vs. 6), caudal fin rays n7+n7 (vs. n8+8n), eyes not vestigial (vs. vestigial eyes) (Ref. 106506).
