Family:  Aulopidae (Aulopus)
Max. size:  44 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 50 - 1000 m
Distribution:  Eastern Atlantic: Canary Islands south to Cape Verde and Senegal. Also recorded from the Mediterranean. Western Central Atlantic: Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean (Ref. 3814).
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Found on continental shelf and upper slope (Ref. 6687).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 20 October 2013 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
