Max. size:  13.1 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 0 - 12 m
Distribution:  Eastern Central Pacific: Marquesas Islands.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 8-8; Dorsal soft rays (total): 13-14; Anal spines: 2-2; Anal soft rays: 12-13; Vertebrae: 26-26. Head and thorax pale gray-green body pale green; blackish scale edges; five narrow black bars; caudal fin dark purplish gray; pectoral fin with a small black spot on the base. Deep body, 1.75-2.0 in SL. 21-23 (usually 22) tubed lateral line scales (Ref. 33558).
Biology:  Feeds on zooplanktons, algae and small invertebrates (Ref. 89972). Oviparous, distinct pairing during breeding (Ref. 205). Eggs are demersal and adhere to the substrate (Ref. 205). Males guard and aerate the eggs (Ref. 205).
